Assistant Professor, Director of Research
Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry
Before joining the faculty at Texas A&M College of Dentistry, Dr. Kesterke worked as a coroner and anthropologist for nearly a decade, investigating human remains across North America, Europe, and the Middle East. His research centered on skeletal identification and the effects of climate, disease, and genetics on human variation.
His Ph.D. research explored how maternal thyroid hormone levels influence offspring craniofacial development using geometric morphometric and Euclidean Distance Matrix Analysis. This work continues through studies on bone samples from the Middle East and China and in identifying sexually dimorphic craniofacial features in early childhood.
Currently, Dr. Kesterke is developing 3D facial imaging and tracking techniques to assess trauma, disease, and therapeutic impacts on craniofacial structure.
