Postdoctoral fellow
University of Pittsburgh
Dr. Danilo Ferraz holds a Ph.D. in Endodontics and is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Renato Silva and Dr. Ariadne Letra at the University of Pittsburgh. With over nine years of research experience in endodontics, his work focuses on the in vitro and in vivo characterization of endodontic materials, particularly utilizing rodent models. His expertise encompasses a diverse range of laboratory methodologies, including animal surgery—such as subcutaneous procedures and the induction of apical periodontitis models—primary cell culture, DNA/RNA extraction, and PCR-based techniques.
During his master’s studies, he specialized in calcium silicate-based materials, establishing a strong foundation in biomaterials and translational research. His work also includes extensive experience in analyzing the physicochemical properties of materials and conducting three-dimensional evaluations using imaging techniques like microtomography. This robust background reflects his dedication to advancing the field of endodontics through innovative methodologies and interdisciplinary collaborations, driving meaningful contributions to both basic and applied research.
