Dr. Andrea Mantesso Pobocik graduated as a dentist in 1994, obtained a Ph.D. in Oral Cancer and a certificate as a specialist in Oral Pathology, and started a career as an Assistant Professor at the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil in 2003. In 2006, she moved to London to do a research fellowship at King’s College London School of Dentistry, where she worked with dental stem cells until 2010, when she returned to her faculty position in Brazil. In 2014, Dr. Pobocik moved to Michigan, where she completed a residency in Restorative Dentistry at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry and obtained two clinical certificates (Restorative Dentistry and Digital Dentistry) and a master’s degree. When the residency was concluded, Dr. Pobocik immediately started working as a full-time clinical faculty member in the Cariology, Restorative Sciences, and Endodontics Department. At the University of Michigan, Dr. Pobocik teaches clinical and pre-clinical skills to dental students. She is also a Faculty Coach, is part of the CAD/CAM in-house restoration team, and directs six courses. Dr. Pobocik is still researching dental stem cells and oral cancer. Since she started as a faculty member in Michigan, her research also includes Dental Education.
