Endodontics Resident
New York University College of Dentistry
Brooklyn, New York
Dr. Elona Hasanbelliu Covietz is a second-year resident in the NYU Advanced Education Program in Endodontics. She earned her first dental degree in 2012 from Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic University in Albania. Following graduation, Dr. Covietz practiced as a private general dentist in Tirana while also teaching endodontics and restorative dentistry to dental students at her alma mater.
After over five years of clinical experience in Europe, Dr. Covietz relocated to the U.S. and earned her second dental degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2023. Immediately after, she began her current endodontics residency at NYU.
During her teaching career and clinical rotations, Dr. Covietz observed that many dental students struggle with proper endodontic diagnosis. This inspired her to focus on enhancing diagnostic training for future dentists. Motivated by her passion for educational innovation, she explored the use of large language models (LLMs) as virtual endodontic patients to improve students' diagnostic skills.
In today’s presentation, Dr. Covietz will discuss her findings on how LLMs can be integrated into dental education as effective training tools, potentially transforming diagnostic learning and enhancing patient care outcomes.
