AAE Workshop Cancellation and No Show Policy: Refunds for AAE workshops will not be granted, regardless of the circumstance, after March 5, 2025. A no-show occurs if a registrant does not cancel in advance of AND/OR does not show up for their scheduled workshop within 15 minutes of the published start time. If a registrant no-shows, they will forfeit their spot at the workshop and an individual from the waitlist will be given their place.

Treatment of a failing endodontic procedure via microsurgical revision presents better outcomes due, in part, to the integration of the Surgical Operating Microscope (SOM) and CBCT into clinical practice. The combination of superior visualization at higher magnifications with the ability to “virtually” rehearse the procedure and anticipate complications expand the potential surgical possibilities. Technologies have been developed to satisfy the demands of evolving micro techniques but are not limited to the classical endodontic armamentarium. The most recent example is the implementation of the Piezosurgical technique for root end surgery. The established use in OMFS for osseous incisions and resections is being adapted in endodontic microsurgery for conservative ostectomy and bony-lid access of anterior and posterior sites. The early morning session of this full day course provides a didactic reinforcement of contemporary surgical concepts and procedures, and their integration/ modification within the piezosurgical technique with and the fabrication/application of the Precision endodontic surgical stent (PRESS) The late morning and afternoon sessions afford the participants the opportunity to perform piezosurgical techniques on anatomically correct models with simulated lesions in the Mandibular and Maxillary arches.
The below prerequisites outline the basic skills/knowledge required to successfully participate in this workshop:
At least 3 years of clinical surgical experience, either in private practice or in combination with residency/private practice.
Familiarity with conventional surgical concepts and practices.
Familiarity with the surgical operating microscope and it's operation/calibration.
Learning Objectives:
Evaluate the use of Piezoelectric surgery versus conventional techniques for root end procedures.
Describe the steps for creating static Piezosurgical treatment planning and guides.
Discuss the development of the bony lid technique, advantages/disadvantages and complications.
