Dr. Cleverick (C.D.) Johnson is a tenured professor and vice chair of the Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health. He holds The Doan-Huynh-Le Endowed Professorship in General Dentistry and currently directs the school's Urgent Care Clinic.

A 1986 graduate of UTHealth School of Dentistry at Houston, he joined the UTSD faculty in 1990 but maintained a continuous private practice until retiring from that practice in fall 2013.
